Cake type or wet bottom shoo fly pie? My wife makes both, and the cake type makes good cupcakes with pecan praline frosting

It's almost a thick molasses pudding in a pie shell. From that description, it sounds like the molasses would be overwhelming - it isn't. More solid than pudding but still sticky. Really good. Sweet enough and rich enough that two pieces are too much.

Heard of it my entire life. Never knew what was in it and never knew anyone that'd ever had it or knew what it actually was. Hmmm, might just have to give it a try if for nothin else just to say I've had it! Thanks!

It sounds alot like a dark Karo pecan pie minus the pecans. Very much like pecan pie.
