hdwolfer -

I know little "official" about the conflagration. All I know is what I'm seeing from the house. Appears to be on or close to the continental divide, which is still 3-4 miles to the east of us. Thanks for asking. As I learn more about the fire, I'll try to keep all of you informed. It's putting up one heck of a smoke, with the fire reflecting orange at the base of the smoke column. I was scheduled to depart tomorrow on another wolf-trapping session, but I think I'll postpone at least a day to see what develops. Don't want to see White's house burn up...

Jack

Take good care, Jack. White's amazing house and you and yours real estate will be ok.

Why, the resultant heat will show you more of the unique critters that you love to see.

I am still on walkabout for a rubber boa.

If you ever were menaced by any force of nature , all you would need to do is say the word and a plethora of us would pack and drive the trip to help you . I am ready and well-equipped to pack up and drive down there to help anytime. That is what your friends do, naturally.

I was finally able to get a new wild land map to work. Just over the Divide 850 ac now. Called Bear Creek fire.
Just had 2 scooper planes fly over headed west.
With the Red Flag until 9p and more Red Flag tomorrow for high wind and low RH it isn't going out soon.
Fire season has arrived.
As long as the winds stay West to East he'll be okay.

I went up behind the house to the divide last night (snake run), and it appears that the fire is quite a ways south of where I was seeing the smoke plume. hdwolfer sent me a fire link this morning which confirmed the location. Bear Creek Fire is just over the state line into Montana and about 12 miles from the house, so doesn't appear to be a concern at this time.

By the way, Sharon, caught another rubber boa last night. laugh

That's good news ! Maybe it will make some good habitat.

Yes, White. I'm sure the rubber boa will make some great habitat, but maybe only for other boas.

EDIT: The one I caught last night was driving a little caterpillar, making habitat as quick as he could.

Good morning Jack, Jennifer and I ran up to head of Horse Prairie last night right at dark and the plume at 10:00 was pretty awesome looking. A friend of mine has cattle all over in that country. He’s gonna have a busy couple days getting them outta the way. I hope the fire leaves you alone on that side of the hill. Tell Lisa hello. Good morning White!

It’s bout 45 miles south west of us. No concern of it reaching us.

Good deal !! So if a guy drove north over the hill from Leadore he'd find the fire somewhere near there ??

On closer inspection, looks like the fire is 11.0 miles SE of us here. I can't imagine it's going to cause any angst.

Jack

Nope, you’re right on the money. You paid attention when you were in that country.

Glad you have a good eye on the area , Jack. Sure, rub it in about your boa find wink you’ll hear my elated shouting when I finally catch one .

Thank you , hdwolfer, for the fire link .

Very cloudy and cool up here , might just rain a bit.
