If so how do I use it? Do I just add it to liquids? Sprinkle it in meat when your mixing it?

Sodium benzoate is a preservative. It is used in bait making. It also stops the tainting process of meat baits. It isn't real good on fish,salt may be better for preserving fish.
It is not the same as baking soda-.

Thank you everyone. Sorry this seemed kinda like a basic question. Bait-making seems so easy it's just the thing is that its probably so basic Its not addressed much, what exactly is used, more or so just what to use and what to put together lol.

Lure and bait making is an art and science. Trial and error is one way to learn. I suggest reading articles on the topic, video or a book. If you can find a experienced trapper that will show you how he or she makes bait and lure even better. Ask specific questions after you gain a basic understanding from your research. When you get it right you will attract more than possum and skunk and coyotes and fox will let you know they like it. There are many ways to achieve the same end result sometimes. Have fun and I'm confident that one of you young trappers will come up with the next hot lure some day. Spending a little time researching can save many a wasted valuable ingredient. As young trappers with limited budgets and plenty of energy many items are free for your gathering ie fish, crawdads, frogs, apples the list is endless in the streams and woods at the same time your gathering your ingredients do your scouting for the soon to come fall and winter. The best trappers and bait and lure makers are creative, and energetic folks.
