I have a clover food plot for deer and turkeys. It's done well for me but it's starting to get some broadleaf weeds in it. I was wondering if anyone has used 2 4D-B (Butryac). I seen that on the QDMA site. It says it will kill broadleaf weeds and not clover. I know someday I'll have to kill everything and start over but would like to make this last as long as possible.

I just try and mow mine before the weeds go to seed. I thought 2-4-D killed clover, news to me on a different kind.

24D kills all broadleafs. 24DB kills non legume broadleafs.

I just sprayed one of mine last weekend with 24D-B to clean it up some . Broadleafs are curling up right now. I used 2 oz per gal along with AMS and surfactant. This was a plot of ladino and red clover

I have ladino clover and alsac along a swamp and bush, in a hay field . After hay comes off , it comes up thick. If the grass gets too high, I mow it. or the deer mow it. . Have watched deer feed on it , they stay on the clover.. May broadcast some more clover seed on it , to keep it thick. No problem knowing where the deer will be.. old243

IMOX works well too. It will kill any grasses also.

When you guys are done with the stand of clover,,,,,, spray it out (with 2,4-D) in the spring and no-till some corn or sorghum to use any N2 it has fixed for you. Then the next spring broadcast your clover seed over the remaining corn plants and shred the stalks . No need to make it look like a garden. It saves all that tillage and bringing up more weed seeds from the disked depth. Have done this for years and saves time, energy, money and it breaks the insect disease/cycles. Any small seed size will get you a stand as the shredded stalks act like a mulch to retain moisture............... my take.............. the mike

We didnt spray ours we just worked it durning the hot months. Let the weeds come back up and work it again. 2 - 3 times is all it took. Then planted clover with rape in late August. We got the right moisture and it came up great. Next year just mow it 2 times durning the summer and it will keep the weeds from coming back so fast.

Imox is a generic Imazamox which you may have heard of labeled as Beyond or Raptor. The Imox is considerably less expensive. I have been using it for a couple years now but I always add Clethodim grass herbicide to get better control. 2,4 DB has its place too. One of our plots has had a good bit of dock in it. The 2,4DB helped to control it.

Whitetail Institute makes two products to spray on food plots to kill weeds.

I used Clethodim on it. It knocked back the grasses but I still have some broad leaf weeds in it. Thanks for the info guys. Keep em coming!
