So do you think at the next election if a politician promises to re-instate the old flag he will get elected? Seems that would be the case if this is getting rammed down everyones throat against their will. Or would they be too scared to be called racist? If that is the case then everyone is being coerced.

Mississippi legislators on both sides have agreed to change the state flag. I would think that the people should have a say. What do you think? I'm gonna order me one of those flags and fly it here in Ohio!
I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

I'm tired of folks trying to take away American history. The Civil war was about more than slavery. I'm not from the South, but I would never begrudge my southern brothers and sisters from showing their pride. This flag changing is nothing more than appeasement to the current loud mouths. God bless America!

Y'all voted these folks in. Not sure what the love affair is with one small part of your flag....a part that represents treason. That whole treason thing is a recent development. I've had conversations my whole life over the recent unpleasantness and never heard it referred to as treason until recently. You think that might be planned? If so, are those using the word being played? Yes

Are all of you that think this is OK be Ok with tearing down Vicksburg National park? For those that haven't been there it takes a few hours if you stop and look at some of the monuments there. The way they are demolishing statues and monuments the whole park could be a shambles. The flag deal was done very poorly to say the least. They set aside the regular rules to get rid of it. Why do we even pretend to have rules if you can just ignore them when they are inconvenient? Tate Reeves ran on it that he would NOT replace the flag. Camaping promiseVideo of him saying should be up to the citizens. He needs tarred feathered and run out on a rail.

I don't fault anyone for their opinion as a matter of fact I respect those that have one and are willing to voice it. I will say that the governors speech was sickening. I guess he had to invoke god to help clear his himself from what he did. This is Mississippi's fight and hopefully it will be dealt with the correct way, at the ballot box. For me that is at the ballot box. I personally intend to buy add space throughout the state when he starts campaigning. I will call him out for being the spineless liar that he is. this could have been done much differently and would have been honest instead of a sham by typical politicians caving to the left. Mississippians do not and should not tolerate weakness on the part of our elected officials. As far as I am concerned the bunch of them that were involved in this committed political suicide yesterday. I'm pretty sure there will be an expensive price to pay at the ballot box.The flag it'self is nothing more than a symbol. Some are evidently offended by it or better yet claim to be and there is a difference. The flag also has a sense of history and Mississippians take pride in it because it is the state flag. I don't think replacing it is trying to erase history. Things from the past sometimes need to be updated. It will always be part of Mississippi's history. There is however a proper way and time to make change. This was not it. I will however stand under whatever flag we adopt. Because it represents the place I was born and live as have generations of my family. The flag however that means the most to me is the one that represents our country. Many have fought and died under that flag to ensure the great and successful experiment called the United States of America. The national anthem at times still brings tears to my eyes when the flag is raised as I'm sure many veterans understand.

If so, are those using the word being played? I have been hearing it used that way more often lately. My WWII veteran grandfather had a huge effect on me and was from your neck of the woods (born in Jackson county GA, raised in Abbeville SC) and was embarrassed that he had relatives that fought against a country that he loved so much.

I am very proud of all Americans that fought there, Union and Confederate. Tough bunch of men that did what they had to do!!!!

My WWII veteran grandfather had a huge effect on me and was from your neck of the woods (born in Jackson county GA, raised in Abbeville SC) and was embarrassed that he had relatives that fought against a country that he loved so much.
I was born and raised in NY, and am embarrassed over the way my ancestors treated the south during, but especially after the war.
