If trapping yotes, go bigger. #3 DLS or 4's.

Wow that is an absolutely beautiful set up right there. Are you using those for yotes and cats. I may have to rethink selling my number 2 longs. I have thought about doing something like that and running my #2 longs on drags but this has made up my mind. Now to answer your question. I use whatever I've got right then but longsprings seem to do really well with a drag. Also there should not be any more damage to a trap on a drag than on a stake. If so I'd say you should think about getting better traps. What you have there should be fine after catching a yote on a drag. Thank you! I enjoy tinkering and modifying. Our land has a gravel road that cuts though about 3/4 of the 100 acres. It was a pain to stake so I decided to give drags a try mostly for coyotes! I would love to catch a Cat. I added the PIT dogs to help prevent bending.

I think you should be asking what drag to attach to a trap. Your #2's will be just fine, don't fall for the "ya gotta have a huge trap" bs. PM Jabne, that good ole boy traps with #2 longs and has a great set up. Good luck.
I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

If trapping yotes, go bigger. #3 DLS or 4's. In NY we are limited to a 5 9/16 jaw spread, Most 3 & 4s are 5 13/16 or bigger, so I had to go with the number 2s (Nearly Same spread as a MB550) If thats the case you might want to go with the MB 550 and not the #2 DLS.
