Has anyone here visited any of these monuments while on vacation? Yes, I have visited the Jeff Davis statue at the capitol rotunda in Frankfort, Ky while on vacation. It added context to the presentation of the statues, because Lincoln's statue is also there...Both were sons of Kentucky.

Crager,
I hadn't heard about a push to remove Gideon's Bibles. I believe they are an evangelical group from a northern state who labors to spread the good news of the Gospel. But, some believe their news is the only news of this day.
The OT story of Gideon defeating the Midianites found in the book of Judges (progressives despise those who judge in the name of the Lord or it seems in the name of American jurisprudence. Progressives alone judge fairly we are told), is similar to the story of Joshua and Jericho in Joshua 6. The angel of the Lord, perhaps a Christophany, appears to the young Gideon and when all is said and accomplished, Gideon and 300 defeat an army described as numerous as locusts (Judges chapters 6-7).
I have no idea what taking Gideon Bible out of hotel rooms would accomplish, but I still recall the born again military gentlemen who spoke at our Veteran's Day chapel, himself a man who had accomplished much for our country (flew 54 different aircraft types), telling us in a very emotional address that they will come for Christians in this country, and he wished it wasn't so.
I'm not too worried about it as I check coyote traps today in hot south Texas heat, but I do pray daily that God would heal our land, so that our children and their children could endure less hate. When you place humans as the holders of the truth, you get a bunch of crack pot philosophies. Me's of the opinion, we see that playing out now. Everyone wants their own sandbox with their own box of crayons.
Blessings to you trapper dudes and dudettes! Mark

Yep. Was on a guided bus tour of the city.
I used to like visiting that town, back when Larry's Blues Bar was open. Years ago.

James, There is much hope for you brother. You like a sip of something adult flavored and a bit of background ambiance. Color it blues bro. Color it blues. Gotta go check traps. Make another anti mad. Or maybe that's madder. Or maddest. Madding?

Historical monuments should not be removed, but should be learned from. Failure to learn from the past can lead to a repeat of that past through ignorance. I think that removing the monuments doesn't remove the past, it only removes the memory of it. X2

George Washington and Thomas Jefferson will be next....Talk about the Confederacy all you want, it's wasted breath at this point....They're coming for the U.S.A. next, and it will also be lost, and relegated to history unless you stand and fight. And then they'll want to rewrite the constitution because it was written by slave holders .

Surprised banning the bible is not a part of the 'woke' movement. Or it may be one of their goals? Ephesians 6:5-9 would get them in an uproar.

The reason why the South was allowed to build monuments to their great warriors and why some of those monuments were built in the North and many were paid for, at least in part, by Northeners was that the Republicans made a conscious decision to try to heal America and become one Nation again. Those great Southern men were also great American men, deserving of respect. Once the North won, the decision was made to not treat the Southerners as a conquered people, but as a wayward brother come home. It was without a doubt the right decision.
If the North would of chosen to break the spirit of the South, rather than help it heal, we would never have become the World's greatest nation.
Keith . This! End of debate.
