Great gun. Great company with an awesome history. 308 is awesome for hogs, deer and other things. I use the heaver loads, since it helps it cycle better. https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/411554822https://www.hornadyle.com/rifle-ammunition/168-gr-a-max-tap-precision#!/ Anybody else use a AR 10 for deer hunting. I just bought this AR 10 from Windham Weaponry for this year deer hunting.

I got one in DPMS LR 308 win./7.62x51mm I got it some years ago and 2 barrels for it in 308 one like in the pic and a heavy for long range shooting. Just use the 20 round mag. The same mags works in my Moss. 308 also bolt action. so works out for me. I shoot cast in all my . Sight it in with Nato ammo.

I would if it were legal here. No semiauto for big game. Lol.....did not realize that back when I hunted deer a few years in PA with my browning bar 30-06

I am contemplating an AR10 build but for deer hunting I carry the lighter version in 6.5 Grendel. Enough gun for the deer around here and easier to carry.
Let's go Brandon

Semiauto shotguns have been legal for small game and turkey for as long as I can remember. We just got semiauto rifles for small game and predators. Semiauto shotguns legal in some places for deer now I shotgun only areas. Hopefully soon we will get semiauto for big game. I know it's not necessary and maybe not the best choice of firearm, but the reasoning that it is unsafe is ludicrous. My 9 year old loves shooting my AR-15 because of the short stock and low recoil. An AR-10 with a five round mag is a great choice for women and youth. Main reason why I bought my browning bar 30-06 is very low recoil and my wife can shoot it.

Running a 742 Rem in 30-06 , been thinking about a AR-10 in 308 as a deer rifle.
semi auto with the 30-06 loaded to 308 velocities to go easy on the some what fragile gas system of the 742 is a very soft shooting deer rifle running 165gr speer BTSP at around 2680fps
in WI we hunt semi auto with no restrictions no mag limit. but the 10 round AR-10 P-mags are a great way to go . I have a bolt gun that runs them they would be about perfect length to not get in the way
"Shoot-um to da ground " my son and cousin gave me a hard time for this last year. what is it WWII over there ? is what I heard as they approached , they stopped heckling me when they realized I had hit 3 times in as many inches while the deer was running , it just hadn't had time to fall between my first hit and second hit it went down with 2 and looked like it was getting up so I gave it 3.

AR-10? According to the intellectual Nancy P., that's the same weapon soldiers take into war!
But, getting back to reality, that should make an awesome deer rifle.

Im a fan of windham. They make a good, accurate rifle. I hope their 10 is as accurate as the 15.

I like the camo but the black magazine scares me. The $1200 gubmint check won't quite cover that...

Im a fan of windham. They make a good, accurate rifle. I hope their 10 is as accurate as the 15. I bought a Windham earlier this year AR 15 chambered in 7.62 x 39 carbine and love it. Windham has that life time warranty that is transferable.
