Greetings - first post on here. Have this old Newsome trap that has been in the family for a long time and looking for more information on it. Wondering what the age, model and possible value of the trap. It is in good shape and not sure if the pics will show it well or not but has a copper look/tone especially on the bottom. Any info would be much appreciated. Thank you in advanced for looking and/or posting info!

My guess is a #5 but pan has no markings on it.

Your trap is a blacksmith / shop made trap with Newhouse springs. The springs are from two different time periods and date to the 1880's.

The hex-head nut on the right side of the trap in photo #2, should tell you that this trap was taken apart or repaired in recent time. (As compared to the age of the trap)

Also, looking at the "copper finnish" on this trap it appears to have been either soaked or had a brushed on coat of copper sulphate. This type of finnish is used to give a "one of a kind" patina to some antiques to improve buyer appeal; which usually doesn't work!

Thanks for the updates snakecollector and garart. So essentially this is a hodge podge trap with non-matching parts. Kind of like the Johnny Cash song "One piece at a time". Can anyone give me an approximate value for it or would it be better to dismantle it and sell the springs separately as that is the only value?

Its a nice looking trap I would put it on the wall or sell it the way it is. Without seeing it in person I would ask 3-400 for it?
