more news from California.
We are dealing with a new ban here is this state. It may be coming to a state near you sooner than you think!!!!!
Lead-free bullets?
It all started with the "get the lead out" ban to help the California Con Dor.
Our Fish and Game commission invited the Barnes bullet company to testify that non-lead bullets were available.
What did the Barnes rep. say?
He out right lied!!!!!!
He said that they produce non-lead bullets in 47 different calibers.
And in 89 different loads...
So our state went ahead with the ban on lead bullets.
and of corse there is already talk of taking this to a national level.....
Now we are three months from early season deer hunting, i can not hunt because i have no bullets to throw at the deer.
Barnes and Lapua do make a few bullets for a dozen calibers. But where does that leave the rest of us?
Please do not let this happen to you!
stay strong and fight for your rights.....

oh, no 22 rim fire in non-lead for my trapping gun so it's back to thump-thump on my yotes. it does get the blood moving a bit more in this old man. lol...

Im sorry to hear about your situation Dale. Its no secret that california has more than one rediculous law on guns and ammo. That along with the handgun "microstamping" law is even more infringement on your rights. I am no fan at all of barnes bullets in the first place, but go figure they would take this one with a smile for more money in their pocket. Its not right. It certainly wont be a big chore for me to boycott their product. But dont forget that a certain person signed both of them into law.

I have read there is talk of a statewide ban on lead ammo in MN here. I read it in our outdoor news. Ours is because of the stupid lead in the venison scare. BS if you ask me. I would really like to see what is going to happen in shotgun only areas(or whole states). I know you can get lead free round if you have a rifled gun but I would bet that most shotgun hunters still use smoothbore guns and foster style slugs. Traditional muzzleloader guys are getting hit hard by this too. Davey Crockett never shot a copper bullet.

There was an attempt at doing this in Vermont too not that long ago, though more discreetly in a bill not specifically aimed at ammo. Enough attention was brought to it to stop it though.

you cant shoot lead ammo on state ground or over waterways but you can use lead fishing sinkers anywhere you want? what am i missing.

if lead was banned we would all go broke and many wouldnt be able to hunt anymore due to high cost. granted we would learn not to MISS. shocked

I can't even use lead sinkers here (VT) anymore. Had to buy all new sinkers for fishing, all mine were lead. Too much paranoia over lead these days I think. And I think making it too expensive or difficult to hunt/trap with any means possible (lead bans) is something the antis really want...

I think I would stop buying anything that Barnes made.

What really gets me in MN is how our state legislators can make laws on thngs they know absolutely nothing about!!! Most of these young legislators have never hunted or trapped and have no idea what's right or wrong when it comes to decisions on these topics. It sucks that they are the individuals deciding the our fate as hunters and trappers.
