FOXBOROUGH, Mass. —
Retired New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is reportedly interested in coming back to football, but only to play with his old quarterback Tom Brady.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Insider Ian Rapoport, Gronkowski would want to play with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and former Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

Just an hour after the reports surfaced Tuesday afternoon, Schefter reported the Patriots were trading Gronkowski and a seventh-round pick to the Buccaneers for a fourth-round pick.

Gronkowski retired from the Patriots after the 2018 season, finishing his career with the team with winning Super Bowl LIII against the Los Angeles Rams.

Gronk has one year and $10 million left on his contract. The two sides had reportedly been talking prior to Thursday’s NFL Draft.

Gronkowski reportedly had a physical in Boston, and according to Schefter's source, "passed with flying colors."

Rapoport said the situation is not unprecedented. The Seahawks and Raiders did a similar trade with Marshawn Lynch.

Rapoport said Gronkowski has begun putting on weight for a potential return to football.

We will see if Brady will have one of his all-time favorite receivers in a Buccaneers uniform come this fall.
