There is also the sudden valley rat clips. Not sure which I will be going with next season. Just from looks (since I don't own any or haven't tried) I'm not a big fan of the Hangman brackets. From the pictures on the website it appears it makes the trap stick out farther and there may be enough room between the pole and trap pan for a rat to sit and potentially not set off the trap. Like I said just a thought based off pictures.

No way can a rat sit between the pole and the trap when using hagz bracket. My only complaint Is that sometimes the trap won't get off the bracket and you get a wring off. It hasn't happened to many times but It has happened. The other thing you might want to do if you buy the Hagz brackets Is put more bend In them so the trap sits a bit flatter.

Jeff offers a variety of products. The brackets and clips to stabilize foot holds and body grips were the first products offered but he has continued to release additional items. J3outdoorz Website

Are those the Hagz bracket that can be a drowner lock too? Or are these different? I get the company terminology mixed up.
I use a Hagz product on bodygrip springs and love those. I call those the clips but who knows.
Nice pics. Yes.

Right on, thanks.
I'd like to pull double-duty with the same rods for bodygrips and footholds

I'd like to pull double-duty with the same rods for bodygrips and footholds The brackets to support the foot holds are designed to use on 3/8" smooth rods. The small body grip clips (for 160s and smaller traps) are designed to use 3/8" smooth rods The large body grip clips (for 220s and larger) are designed to use 1/2" smooth or rebar rods

Which kind of these brackets can you use a longspring trap on? None of mine appear that they would work with the Hagz clip. Long springs have more variance in design when it comes to the frame end. Rule of thumb is the longer the frame end, the better it will work for our HAGz Brackets. I have used LS traps with short frame end and the jaw will rest against the rod, it doesn't seem to hurt... Sudden Valley clips should work with any LS so I agree with sniper, that may be your best bet unless you want the device attached to your trap, then you can always add an frame extension if your a little handy Thank you all for your support!!! We sincerely appreciate it!

Pop rivet a short piece of flat stock to the very end of the single long spring trap and your good to go. I did that with some coils since I didn't like the idea of the rats crawling over the jaws. It worked just fine.

I have been making my own rat setups ups out of construction stakes and extra wood and am going to bit the bullet and get a setup this year. looking at hagz and sudden valley setup. Will look at Dakota line setup though. hadn't known it existed. I have had some negative thoughts on the hagz as it seems the rat would be climbing up the dog but they seem to work well.

Rats being thrown by the dog is a myth, lol... There is roughly 355 degrees the rat can approach from and I have yet to find evidence of the dog interfering, regardless of whose system you choose. Don't let Beav tell you otherwise ... We all have our methods, perceptions and theories, I wish you the best out there in WY ... you too Beav You bet, Thanks for making such a great, simple, affordable product that helped greatly increase my productivity! Great to hear!!! You are welcome sir and thank you very much!

I love those brackets but I hate those 3/8th rods you have to use so I made up my own set ups. I still use the brackets but I have welded them on to some rectangular steel sections. Know I can use my wood stakes. I think the wider wood stakes work better then the rods.
I know that when a rat has to crawl over the fixed jaw and the trap springs rats will be thrown out of the trap It does happen. It happens when a rat still has It's feet up and sets the trap off with It's chest. Keeping the trap just out of the water will get the rat dropping It's feet and will help. It also gives the rat a visual so It has a place to pull out of the water. This will help up your catch ratio with the brackets. And make sure your bait at least 8" above the water level. You want that rat standing on the trap.
It's not the dog that throws the rat It's the jaw.
