According to the news report we are all getting a 1000 bucks from gubment. WELL depends on your income!!

I think waitress and other like professions should get it for sure. Yes they can draw unemployment but most are only making 1.50 to 2.0 dollars an hour with the rest of their income being tips !!!! Won't calculate to much with that as a base salary ..

There is actually some truth to this statement , not some crazy plan by the Democrats or something.

Trump wants to send Americans checks ‘immediately’ in response to coronavirus, Mnuchin says

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/tr...next-two-weeks-amid-coronavirus-outbreak

I don't know the actual figures , but hey , I'll take some free money. Or crumbs as Pelosi called it once.

Sounds like a bad idea to me. If you can't work because of this, if your company can't open, file for unemployment. That's what it's for. That's why employers pay into it. Just handing out money is not going to be a very good idea.

I understand the theory of getting money in circulation. But If people are confined to their homes what are they going to do ? I'll bet a lot of it will be used to just pay debts or buy illicit drugs in a LOT of cases.

I'd much rather see a big infrastructure program with a lot of well paying jobs. I think that would help more in the long run.

White you are wrong. Bad wrong. If you were a waitress at the local steak house and someone was "giving you " 1000 today so you may not lose your car or house it is a BIG HILL of beans. So what if you have to claim it on your taxes next year. At least it may help you make it to next year !!!!!

What about people that live on tips. How much "unemployment" they going to draw.

You guys that are complaining must of had it too easy for too long. You fail to see the couple that struggle to pay their bills every month. OR you want them to get in line a draw like the rest of the sorry pieces of crap.
Just stop and look at the fast food resturants that are shutting down. MILLIONS of workers out of work in an instant !!! I have a brother in law that has a small business but he suppliments his income by substitute teaching in the winter. Schools closed He isn't eligible for unemployment !!! More people suffering out there if you get out of "your " little world and think about others and the "real impact " this is having...

Disappointed Trump has bought into the idea that you can print more money to get out of this situation. Very unbusiness-like.

That's exactly my point. If a waitress uses her thousand bucks to keep her car there is no new commerce. She bought the car a long time ago. The bank will just put the money on their books as they do every month.

Money needs to circulate to have a beneficial impact. That's why the economist types refer to it as the 'velocity' of money

Here is a thought , if everyone gets money , it will give our economy a HUGE boost. This in some ways is cheaper than letting our economy fail , if our economy fails , the world's economy fails. That would be a catastrophic failure that would take years and years to recover from.

Obama's stimulus package funded programs. Not much of an effect unless you benefited from those programs. The fixing of the roads part of it was nice and everyone benefitted from that but it was just to show the public where some of the money went.

Putting our tax dollars back into the hands of people who paid them is not the same as printing money. I would rather see people spend that money instead of more programs.

Question for those in the know.......If there is a complete national shut down, would that include such things as banks and the mortgages, loans, etc. that they carry? It seems that if everything else is freezing, closing down, or cancelling, the amount of wages and salaries impacted is enormous. A vast majority of society is living paycheck to paycheck. If the government is forcing these business to shut down, wouldn't it only make sense to force shut down of the financial burden of mortgages, loans, etc. for these people that aren't receiving a paycheck until things start up again? Or is this unrealistic? I know one signs over their life when they sign a mortgage but we appear to be creeping in on unpresidented times.

If the economy collapses and they lose all the social security I’ve put in over the last 45 years or so , I will be wanting to cut out a big piece of a state or national park for myself as payment. I’ve always liked Yellowstone !

Golf Ball, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but your SS money was spent a long time ago. Only by borrowing more money will we be able to pay your SS.

Maybe you should all ask your kids and grandkids how they feel about giving you a thousand bucks. That's really what's happening. We are all getting a loan which they are agreeing to pay for.
