Started 2 years 4 months ago so let's back up I've trapped for 40 plus years and have caught hundred if not thousands of beaver and coyotes. So pull in a farm Nov. 2017. Find sign of a single beaver figure just as well get him along with the coons and coyotes knowing the farmer will call if he sees the sign. Knowing singles Cam be tuff to get at times I took my time and made three decent sets. Next day know beaver and all sets destroyed. This went on for a week or so till i decided to come back after regular season and also give.him time to.prime up.so went back in February snuck in and set a couple snares next day the sets destroyed all the twigs to hide the snares were gone there set the snare not even touched. Tried everything you could think of so I broke the dam and set foothold he didn't try to repair but kept unsettling all.my 330s and snare sets.then it happened he moved out. Thank God I admitted defeat I was happy for the ole rascal. Life was good. Low and be hold 2020 got a call from the farmer there's beaver causing trouble. As a crow flies it wss about a mile away. As soon as I pulled up I thought o crap maybe a few other choice words. Wow was I right same SOB it's uncanny this sun of a gun. It's crazy he destroys all my s- - - ttt I have threw every thing at him I'm convinced it'll (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) house luck if I get him I praying now that he'll move to some anti's yard and lives out his time . Till then I'll keep setting sets and cuss like a sailor.

Have you tried just setting just a foothold trap in a trail or near a fresh cutting without any bait or lure

Definitely cool beaver. One worthy of respect for sure.

Have you tried shooting him?

Not this round he's so unpredictable he eats a little here a little there no slides at all and he's been there two years.by the fresh and old cutting. I'm not sure where he went to engineering school but is a real master at picking dam location for backing a ton of water with a not very big dam. He's truly magnificent.

I can't shoot him legally. Could maybe get a permit to do so but I'm going to pass on that. I'm hoping he moves on or one of my blind sets get him. I've just used scent a couple Times it seems like it really agitates him then and I'm hoping that's when he'll screw up. Truly amazing animal. Several years ago I was after one that was really tuff he would pull my trap stakes and take trap and all and pack in his dam. If he couldn't pull them he would unset the trap and drag it out and cover with mud. I finally got him by setting traps in plain site and setting blind sets next to them. Thanks for your input.

Well anchored float? I'm currently dealing with an (some) elusive beaver(s) in a pond myself! Not to mention the rain!

Can you do a dam break and lower the water level and trap the bank den entrances? Like force him to go through a 330?

Chances are that beaver will not commit to anything new in his environment that it can see or smell. If it is so intent on destroying everything you put in there you might capitalize on that by making a decoy set and concealing a foothold or two underwater on it's approach route. Make it so the footholds cannot be seen or even easily felt by covering them with mud. Do not even place any guide sticks to alert it. I dealt with one like this last spring.

I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!

It When you set a foothold put it inside a paper sack that way you can’t see the outline of the trap. I caught one last year that way it took a week for him to come and set his foot in the trap. Paul Dobbins showed that at a New York demo about 12 years ago.

No easy peasy here. I've used snares and blend them way more than yote snares he either trashes the set or goes around the snare. I've used conibear at his den entries some how he unsets them. He done it two years ago as well. At first I thought it was coincidence but no way this guy is sharp. Covered foot traps is my only chance. You recone he smells the snares is the way he finds them?

I went with the modified pipe dream set for beaver today! I'm sure it won't work, but who knows!
