There are no cases of coronavirus documented in my County. There are a few in the surrounding counties but our politicians decided to close all Broome County schools for one month. I'm sorry but this is totally insane what is going on with this whole situation

Trying to get ahead of it and slow the spread so as to not overwhelm the healthcare system so they dont have to decide who lives and dies with limited medical resources like is happening in Italy.

It's unfortunate that people aren't able to rely upon the publicly funded child care program known as the public school system. They might change their mind when they read about what's currently happening in Italy.

Where would the blame lay--if your child contracted the virus at school and brought it home to everyone there.

I could feel the panic setting in today at the trapping workshop when it was announced the LCBO would be closing indefinitely.

Our governor just closed our schools for two weeks. What does this mean? Parents are working, so the germ factory kids go to grandparents house. Of course, the grandparents being old are most susceptible to dying from this virus. I reckon our governor is wanting to kill old folks.

Michigan schools closed for three weeks, one of which is spring break. Lots of people needing child care. I'm lucky enough that my wife stays home already. If she didn't, my oldest daughter is 18 and would watch the younger two. My boss is hiring a sitter and is paying for any of my coworkers that need to use her. I anticipate lots of people co-oping child care to spread it out and not everyone has to miss so much time.

The same as if they got FLU B !!! It's called being a human being. The chances of a school age child getting flu type B versus corona are 198,000 to one !! Some say even higher as they don't have a reported case in anyone under 17 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Plus have you not heard ? Children are not affected !!!!!!!!!!

They are crying they can carry it home . Well they also claim a hand rail can give it to you < a counter top. (all bull) . You going to remove your counter tops ???? NO

Ours closed for two weeks or further notice. As well as any school function or sport. My sons local little league follows school policy, so it's off at least two weeks. Better safe than sorry ?!?!?

all schools closed her state wide till April 6 23 days

grocery store was NUts today hour wait to check out a checkout line that wrapped around half the store

we did the self checkout which was only about a 20 minutes wait.

my wife used to be a checker in a grocery store , so she thinks like a checker she had 6 of these 79cent bags of snacks so she gabs the first 4 scans 6 and tossed them on the belt great if your a checker who knows the tricks to making time , not so good if your working with a computer that identifies the item on the belt with a camera.

ended up when I got to the last 2 bags and it was going to stop if I didn't scan them I just scanned the last two so we could get out of there 1.58 lesson learned

Children have the same chamce of getting the virus as do adults. The thing is if they get it,it does not affect them like an adult,
A childs lungs are in much better shape than an older person--they don't smoke and their lungs have not been exposed to years of pollution.
I should have quit smoking 50 years ago, better yet,I should have followed my parents advice and never started. I would have been better prepared to go on the ongoing--toilet paper hunt.
Stay safe and stay healthy my friends.

the issue is it takes several days to present symptoms and when you do present symptoms you have been contagious for days .

that might mean 3-4 days that you were spreading it

I saw some one say what about ebola and some of the other nasty bugs that have happened

there are 2 major differences between this and past diseases when people started being contagious they already had symptoms and it was a disease of the poor.

once covid 19 made it out of china it was a disease of the affluent those who could afford international travel , the problem with international travelers is they can also afford to be in multiple cities in a week and around a lot of people if they infect 20 people and those 20 each infect 20 as soon as the first person knows they have it 400 people are working on exposing 8000.

I saw the count for deaths is at 56 but one city of 41K in NJ has 86 more know cases and 2 deaths in a few days that will probably be more deaths and a lot more cases.

Talking with my son today, he is 7 weeks from graduation at the University of Northwestern School of Law.
Yep, they shut it down but he will be able to continue "on line" and graduate on schedule and also take his
bar exam as planned. It does make me wonder how they can suddenly have on line classes at a school that
costs 60K per year in tuition?

Given the way the media has so many people worked up into near hysteria I don't see how you could blame schools for closing. They have no choice without looking like uncaring jerks and heaven forbid what if they didn't and it caused the death of a bunch of people, even older staff members or kids with heath issues. Its the only real option they have at this point. There is no way to please everyone, and its better safe than sorry. A month out of school is pretty mild in the life of a child.
