Only trapped a few days this year but had a good time. Here is the breakdown:

3 coyotes @ $30
1 coyote @ $20

1 bobcat @$30

2 medium beavers @$6 apiece

1 2X coon @ $4

All put up fur

Me too. Ferdinand in Southern Indiana

1 coyote @ $30
2 coyote @ $20 apiece

1 coon size ? @ $4

3 beaver @ 8 apiece
2 small beaver @ 3 apiece

1 pound caster - $55

For someone that is pretty much an amateur at put up and for marginal southern Indiana fur, I thought these prices were decent.

Compared to price's I saw at a state auction this weekend those are GREAT price's for southern fur. Beaver were 3.00 a DOZEN at the sale I saw posted elsewhere!
Thought id seen pitiful price's in the past but that's pretty much lowest ive ever seen.

I was looking for the “typical” Groeny truck, was surprised they were in a rental “Penske” truck! There was one other guy who was just leaving when I rolled up. Took less than 5 minutes!

I did better with Groeny than I probably would have at the Fur Takers auction in Elizabethtown, KY a couple weeks ago. I like to support our state auction, but with my meager offering I didn’t want to wait around all day to sell it. I’m just glad he makes a stop pretty close to me, little over an hour away.

No wonder beaver problems are multiplying

I really do not understand why they have sales this time of the year. There is rarely a big enough offering for buyers to travel, buy an out of state license and pay help. Also poorly put up fur or castor kills the averages and freaks everyone out. Yes it is a buyers market but some things can certainly be explained. LLL

Let's say I agree with you LL,,, at the prices of coon the bread and butter out that way.
Do you think if everybody held coon until the price got reasonable,,, would coon move up to a acceptable average if everybody held until it did so???

I was told caster would be aout $75/lb. I don't know I haven't sold any fur and probably won't except small or poor quality beaver that are not worth sending off to be taned. To be honest as long as it takes me to put up fur it is not worth my time on $4 coons. So instead I will pay shipping and 15$ each to have taned. Maybe then I can sell them for a $20 profit. If not the kids can keep them and play with them.

All castor is not created equal.
A Lb of #1 stuff Is going to bring more money then a Lb of #2 castor.

Red I never said a word about holding fur over in this thread. I am saying you cannot tell whether someone got a fair price by the sales average. Some guys do not take care of fur or castor properly dragging the average down or increasing the no sale. LLL

I agree with that statement about quality , or whether its sold in carcass, green or whatever.
What I am asking will holding fur any fur and no one sold until a reasonable average was met. Would that increase prices ??? I think yes

What ?! U guys in Indiana an Kentucky are getting same or better than he pays in Iowa for what posted, ? I noticed that before. Like advertisement for business out state for more customers. I really hope somehow nafa comes back or can afford the wait for fha auction next season,

You obviously did not get a bad check or you would not wish for SHAFTA to make a comeback. They did a lot of harm to trappers to include high interest loans to guys like yourself. LLL

If they could not get coon they would use Finncoon or something else. A couple years ago the reason fur prices were down and wool was high was they we’re making wool coats. Now they will hardly pay to shear sheep because the wool they sell does not pay the shearers

About compare to what he pay in iowa reported, or darn close, I call that advertisement in.my opion to get more bussiness out state, no I never got bad check, interst on advances. If not lot money, very low interest. On $1000 advance, maybe $15 bucks in 3-4 months. Very cheap interest, check out some loan places on interest, they charge u on $1000 Loan like $5-700, like loan sharks.i can think of half dz loan places like that area, they terrible , I don't think could beat nsfa coon prices. Nowhere. But they history
