I remember in public school they used to show the NFB films,I think I was in grade 5 or 6,I remember that one.

thanks for the replies. I've seen the Nahanni film and it slipped my mind. There is a lot of info on the boat, it's helpful.

Not to go on a side trail but I have often wondered if the rat river trapper may have roamed the valley of the headless. Also some of Raymond Thompsons stories he talks about coming across empty camps that seemed oddly empty. I wondered if the RRT was around those areas at times too.

As crazy as it is I think folks today can be too educated in a way. To illustrate a friend and I was talking about when we were kids. We would make a knife, good, bad or indifferent but we made it. Now days a google search is run, days of reading and research. After all the caveats and pitfalls a fella just says the heck with it.

Take the old boy and his wife whip sawing spruce. They needed a boat, short on money, looked at a couple boats most likely and then built it.
