I know there has been a lot of posts like this, but looking at a 2012 Yukon xl SLT has 159000 miles......5.3 l ....one owner ....locally ....interior is immaculate...body is rust free... including undercarriage...have been underneath it looks like nothing is leaking...i know buying anything with this kind of miles is a crap shoot...but any type of advice or knowledge of this vehicle would be appreciated.

It better be cheap with 159,000 miles
Can you find any others ( same vehicle ) with less miles in your area

Yes there are some with less miles 10,000 grand more. And don’t seem to be in as good as shape . As far as body and interior.

I’m not familiar with this drive train.... would be interested in it’s reliability... with those who have owned a similar vehicle.

The 5.3 is Gm's flagship motor , im sure it will run well over 200k if taken care of . Not sure about the tranny . If the owner has good maintence records and looks well taken care of , and the price is right .....go for it
Check the records for extensive service at the gm recomended 100k mark

How much is the truck? If immaculate may not be bad, but it's still a lot of miles.

We bought one in 2016 with 42,000 mi, have 90,000 mi on it now. No problems so far, I would be most concerned about the trans. Was the trans serviced at 80-100,00 mi would be my deciding question. It really makes a difference and important.

I just bought a 2010 gmc Yukon xl, 130,000 miles 5.3 $14000, but it was nicer than all the others I looked at with more bells and whistles. THey r $70,000 new so ill drive an older one. Check engine light just came on, evap system. Engines will last over 200,000, not sure about trans. but cant be much to rebuild. Does all the extra crap work?, power liftgate, power running boards? They rust over the wheel wells and at the rear of the rocker where the wheel well meets it. If it has air suspension they tend to leak. I don't trust the mileage on dash but 1st tank of gas got 16 mpg around town. Engines r easy to work on, I rebuilt one in a pickup. Owners fault, not chevy! I am a ford guy but don't like the ford triton engines or anything ford offered that big.

Then if you have to do a tranny in 2 or 3 years no big deal. You will still have a clean family cruiser. The size of the vehicle makes it safer and they get pretty good milage considering

I can't believe how much vehicles cost these days. I bought an 01 z71 4 wheel drive extended cab that was 7 years old with 57,000 on it for 12 grand. No rust and great shape.

Not as of yet. Still negotiating. They aren’t wanting to come down off 13000. They did offer to service the transmission. So I guess we are a a stand off at the moment. We aren’t in a hurry.
