Cabezon OP trapper C Joined: Jan 2015 Posts: 80 New Mexico, USA	A friend gave me a coyote he dispatched 3 days ago. How long will a coyote last without skinning for a few days after its been dispatched? The coyote was buried under snow and is semi frozen. Thank you

bctomcat trapper Joined: Jul 2009 Posts: 2,794 100 Mile House, BC Can	Just skin the coyote as soon as it's thawed and it should be fine. I've had them hung 5 days in a 50-60F temperature thawing out without any problems. If it has green belly wiping the area with vinegar or 3% hydrogen peroxide solution will kill the bacteria causing the rot. Green belly is not serious until it turns dark brown or black. The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.
