Twice for me. I am procrastinating on the shot and I need to get that done. Painful for sure and the one on my rib cage line lasted quite a while too.

Never had them myself. But I've been around several who have.

If you've ever had to suffer through them you have my sympathies.

This past june/july I got the devil rash. Lucky for me, if you want to call it luck, it was on my left thigh area. Three weeks on the couch debating on which second floor window I was gonna jump out of. Tea tree oil, wet towels and anything else other than a ball peen hammer between the eyes was tried. Scarred up pretty good and have some spots that have no feeling. Can't get the shots yet, but I will when I get the OK.

I had them way before they had meds or the vaccine for those that don't believe in vaccines good luck I was out of work for 6 weeks thought about suicide and had severe back pain for 3 more years. Get the vaccine and if you get it and yes you can get it again get the meds the same day.

full of stinging nettles, jelly fish, fiberglass insulation, poison ivy, seed ticks, chiggers, saltwater mosquitoes, no-see-ums, blackflies, horseflies, genital herpes (just guessing here), and bald-faced hornets.

Yup...had a dandy case of them a few year back, first and only time, in my late 30's. I've not gone in for the vaccinations though.

Once one has gotten shingles, does the likelihood of having a second, third, etc. occurrence of shingles increase?

teal GO GET VACCINATION ! I had friend that had shingles on his penis and scrotum ! VERY PAINFULL. RUN get VACCINATION !

I had them many years ago , seen my doc at the VA and gave me some pills and ask about the shot he said it is not fool proof. So I just deal with it the next time if I get it again .

You can get them again after having them and even after the vaccination but they are typically not severe. If your in doubt about how bad they are look it up on the web med site and look at pictures and the discussion of how sever the pain and complications are. In severe cases they do a spinal tap to actually numb the pain but your in a state of paralysis. The pain I had hydrocodone did not help it. Not fun and the older you get the bigger the chance of getting it and more severe symptoms.

I had the shingles 8 years ago.. Shoveling Blacktop all day long.. Sweat dripping down my back and sides all day long.. Most painful thing I ever experienced until having open-heart surgery!!!! Really sucked!!

So THAT'S why the Beav was so furiously scratching away down there at the WTA Rondy last year . . .
