A few years back, ok, ten or so, there were some trappers on here talking about trapping with or had knowledge of state agency biologists using foothold to capture animals for studies and then releasing them injury-free of course. I'm working on a story about the online misrepresentaions of the anti trappers and would like to get in touch with the biologists (I write an outdoor column that appears in numerous papers across Pennsylvania). Anyone still around from back then with this knowledge or present day contacts? Thanks

Old story , but factual. Beavers were made extinct on the east coast due to over trapping. Trappers went almost all the to the west coast trapped beaver , returned them to the east coast to repopulate and saved a possible extinction of a species.
Biggest win for trapping ever in my opinion.

For nearly 50 years I've used traps for research capture of a variety of wildlife species in a great many locations, and have developed a variety of methods to do it logically and "humanely". I'm still doing it today. You might want to pull up a Trapperman thread of a couple weeks ago entitled "Trapping Big Predators". PM me if you desire.

Years back MI otters were caught and sent to MO but that was over 40 plus years ago at the time the State suggested using a #3 long spring O/S, I remember the #3 long O/S was used for research also on eagle studies years catch and release,
Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!
