While checking my blind sets for coyote on a small stream I noticed a couple spots where otter are coming out of the water. I would like to put a 330 in the stream but it is about 3' deep. I don't want to wear my chest waders as I am snow shoeing to check coyote sets. Can I install the 330 by installing a dead stick thru both spring eyes and reach over and put it in? I am not sure if they will go thru it being that way. There is so much snow right now and the water is down from it. I don't feel like getting wet. What is the best way to set a blind set here for otter?

Just lay the stick across the channel so it's just out of the water and fence the rest in.If wider you could also use 2 330's

I attended a demo where the instructor welded a BG clip to a RR tie plate. He then put a 330 on it and used a rope to lower it into the h20. I forget exactly how he used the rope. Just don't fall in & onto the trap.

Not what you want to hear but waders and gauntlets will make it so much easier and effective to place blocking and dive sticks. Remember otters usually hug the bottom. I fell in once because I didn't want to walk 100' back to the truck to get the waders.

Maybe you could set a foothold right where they are coming out.

Or take 1 post & mount the 330 sideways.

I put my waders on and set them. I used my H stands and have the traps at the bottom as that is where they should be swimming this time of year. I found some good pinch points. Thanks all

Use a 280 or even a 220 (220 with an H stand). . Easier to use and with a little blocking will catch otters.

Never too old to learn

Yes use a 280, it's a much better otter trap than a 330.

The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.
