Ive got a 9 speed model 14609 A that periodically wont shift out of fourth on the low side and eighth on the high side . Fourth is the direct drive gear connection on the main shaft .there is no metal fragments in the bottom , shifting forks seem good .in general it appears to be a very good transmission inside . Any mechanics have an idea what the problem might be

I believe the synchro in the range selectors cause that. Our 10 speed Freightliner at work does that. May also be the switch on the stick also.

yes might be the synchro or it might be also be a bering starting to go also 4 and 8 run off the same shaft jmo

4 and 8 are the same gear at the very front of transmission attached to the input shaft ,high and low are at the back of transmission the shifting patern is 1,2,3,4, shift to high side 5,6,7,8
