I say to each there own, what ever makes ya happy, go for it. I worked with a guy years ago who was a brainiac and he loved classical music because he said he could hear the math in it and it relaxed him. Me personally, I can't stand classical music, it annoys me. That's really strange to because I'm so dang sophisticated.
I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....
not a huge fan.....but I do listen at times. Seeing or hearing it live is much better IMO. My sister is a classical pianist. I can sit and watch her play for hrs. Trouble is she hates to play in front of people.
On another note, I also love to listen to native American flute music. At times it can settle my nerves better than anything else.
Wife, son and I are fans of classical music and enjoy our time spent st the NC Symphony. We really like the Summerfest Concert series they do at a nice outdoor venue with a lake and ample shade. They encourage Picnics, you can take in beer and wine and have a good safe time. I’m pretty sure I’ve put a post or two up while sitting there enjoying the shows.

I grew up listening to rock, and country. Then my daughter started playing the violin, at first it was just noise. Later on after several school concerts and better music I really started enjoying it. She loves playing classical and I actually missed it when she moved out. She majored in it in college, then got married and he got shipped to korea for air force so she moved back in with us and is now teaching at a local college. It's nice hearing it I. The background while shes practicing. I'll always listen to country and rock, but the classical is very soothing.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
Yes, Sharon, those two guys are terrific. Their you tube videos are often filmed in their native Croatia as well. Check out Chariots of Fire and Moon River by them.
Indeed, I have enjoyed those very concertos ...as well as numerous others in videos.
Hauser and Luca have taken classical to depths of feeling expressed that their original training was as the typical tradition for generations ...a bit stoic ...just the way it has been played -and he broke through the ceiling , showing it is a mighty thing to express exuberance in each moment of life loved and enjoyed. Even in different genres of music where a cello isn't at all used to being heard.
Very much the same as the melodic banjo players Tony Trischka , Bella Fleck, and some others have transcended way outside the realm of bluegrass .
Interviews of himself and Luka shows their passion expressed for their music and how free they've made it, and the types of music they have morphed into that appeals to so many . They always will love their deep classical roots in training , as they still do in playing to perfection in the many great orchestras around the world . That are brilliant in versatility .
In playing back up in the competitions of old time fiddle events , with a champion violinist, I'll always remember him saying....that anyone- anyone who has the foundation of classical training makes such a superior musician , in leaps and bounds , no matter what type of music they end up playing. I have seen that work out spot on every time. The same principal in singers trained in classical opera.
The depth of classical , the elegance...is in a realm all its own.
Here is one of Hauser in the freedom he expresses that lifts the soul of all who can appreciate this level.
I just love the life and exactness of artistic beauty ....
jazz is another thing i find myself listening to as i age.
