I have a pair of Lacrosse “Marsh” hip boots and I am happy with how they hold up. I want an insulated pair.

They make a “Trapline” hip boot (insulated and ankles like the Marsh) and a Big Chief insulated (ankle fit).

Does anyone have experience with these?

I usually buy a small hip boot than my shoe size. I wear a 10.5 shoe and buy 9 boots.

I am wondering how the Trapline and Big Chief insulated boots compare in size to the Marsh I have.

Also, I had a pair of lacrosse ankle fit knee boots in the past and they were very hard to get off and I wondered if the hippers had that same problem.

i had the black non insulated hip boots for 20 yrs and they were awesome and no problem getting off. I just shook or kicked my foot a couple times and off they came.

Found some reviews online. Ankle fits are hard to get off. Not even considering them now.

Looks like it’s the Trapline. Now I just have to figure out what size to get.

I wear a size 8 shoe. I got size 9 traplines. Plenty of room for thick wool socks inside them.

Which is good, cause they leaked right out of the box. At least the wool sock helps keep my feet warm when it gets wet.

They are going back to LaCrosse in the spring.

Wear 13 shoes but buy 14 boots, especially the insulated variety. Since LaCrosse went Chinese best to try 'em out right away so you can check for flaws.

I wear a 9.5-10 shoe... I just had to send back a size 10 Lacrosse Marsh hip boot. I had a warranty defect (no big deal) but I also needed a smaller size. The 10 on my foot slipped alot. I like lacrosse and how they hold up but I feel that they fit a little big...

Have Trapline boots for maybe 5 years. Love them. Not ankle tight but still plenty of side support. Easy on and off. They stand up without having to tie them up. I wear a size 12 boot and the Trapline size is a 12. They are insulated so a decent pair of thickish socks works well. If mine wear out I will buy another pair.

If you don't have your heart set on Lacrosse Brand you should look into the Dan's waders. I've seen a lot of great reviews on them from guys who use them hard water trapping. You can get them custom made to fit you and choose the boots of your choice to go with them.

ADC, I checked their catalog over and don't see "hip boots." Is that what the frog legs are? Their chest waders look like the real deal, but for $300+ they should be. Hip boots?

If your still not set on brand, I really like my Ranger insulated hip boots. Very comfortable and have held up well for two years, so far.

My boy had a pair that he out grew but they never leaked, very tough waterproof chaps attached and glued to the boots so the don't leak into the boots either.
