I fixed backroads reply a little...

And will add:
HSB & Co. had a quite a few items with the Rev-O-Noc brand. Hardware, sporting goods, guns, ect..
The brand was started to honor one of their salesman named Conover... Spelled backwards.....

Since this thread has already drawn several informative responses, I will add a comment on gradeing collector traps. The specimen pictured is NOT in GOOD condition, and that condition level is often considered the poorest level that is collectible. Establishing a value level for lower grade collectible traps is difficult and in many cases low grade traps are collected only if they are quite scarce.

I don't care one lick about what the value of a trap in that condition ends up being. I'd set it one last time, catch something in it, take a picture of it and hang the trap and the picture in a nice frame on the wall, and ask who else has proof of catching something is a 100+ year old trap. That's what I'd do.

The use of antique traps in decent condition for actual trapping is common among trap collectors and there are many variations in their use. Some buy a new favorite trap, use it to catch a target and then display both the trap and the pelt. Others run lines of antique traps. For example I know of individuals who run dozens of #3 or #4 Newhouse double longsprings because of their effectiveness and their history. I am aware of a Minnesota collector who uses his favorite brand of collector trap each season to take his marten and fisher. I am sure there are many other examples where folks derive satisfaction from the continued use of a tool that may have been manufactured during their grandparents time or earlier.

Back in the good old days my uncle and I ran a LOT of Newhouse's and our favorite mink traps were 91's. Still have a couple dozen hanging in the trap room (not for sale...) and I had this mink mounted to reflect back on those days.
