For the people that flesh beavers over their knee, how do you start? Do you just start at the head & work down or do you flesh a ring on the outside and then work from the head down or is there a better way?

Start just below the ears and go down the middle in a fairly wide swath about 2/3 down. Then go back to the top and start on one side and go around working from the edge out to the middle as you go.. Be careful around the legs. I've only done a couple so I'm still learning but it seems to work the best.

I start at the right ear and go all the way around the outside of the pelt fleshing all the way from the legholes out,then start at the neck and go right down the pelt working from right to left.Then flip the pelt and flesh the face and cheeks and trim off the ears and lips\whiskers.

And if blue starts to show up you know your knife is at the wrong angle, and your Wranglers going to need a patch.

Done hundreds over my knee. Started at head first and went to tail at first I start at head now and work around outside now. Try it both ways or make a new way it all works. Have done some on the beam but prefer over the knee.

I prefer clean skinning myself. I have practiced until I got it down. As far as time I may not be the fastest but once the beaver is skinned it goes on the board and if I need I can clean up that spot once boarbed.
