Tonight, with just about 15 minutes left on the last evening of gun season, I am watching 4 deer on my property, hoping for them to give me a clear shot and some short, little busy body, from two properties down walks onto my property to tell me that my next door neighbor does not want anybody hunting back here and starts asking bunches of questions. I tell the little turd that he is standing on my property and that we have hunter harrasment laws here in Ohio. He says, "I know we do and that it does not matter." I say you chased off 4 deer and he says "it does not matter" again and starts to hurry away. I say what's your name and he mumbles something and starts going faster. I ask more loudly for his name and he says something like Charlie and waddles on.

Did you turn him in for hunter harassment or does it not matter?

Dang Keith, I bet you are ticked, I would be. The idiot trespassed and purposely screwed up your hunt. I'd be looking for a rock to throw in his garden.

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

Normally, I would just try to work it out without the law......but as soon as he said” it doesn’t matter “
I would do my best to make him see that it does matter......because it truly does

I almost called Jeff Tipton, our game warden, who seems like a good one, but didn't. Its possible the guy did not know he was on my property. There is a wide path on the back edge of my property line, that is mostly to entirely on my property, that the harraser was on.

It was extremely frustrating.

May the deer eat his vegetable garden! And then give him the "does not matter".

Wow Keith, that sucks. If it were me I would have pursued it with the law.

I think he meant that he was not harrasing me. He was hard to hear clearly. I think my tone scared him.

About 5 or 6 years ago, a hunter who I gave permission to hunt here, shot my neighbor's house 6 times. I posted about it back when it happened. He has a job that it considered critical to our military, so they took a very long time charging him, after talking to the base commander. They also were very lenient with him. I can understand and have some sympathy that the neighbor may now be worried about hunting.

This was my first ever encounter with this neighbor. I think the best thing to is to forgive the trespass for now. I will definitely report the harrasment if it happens again.

That don't seem to jive with your OP, I took it as though you told him he was on your place. I think he knew or is it just me?

I would be asking my neighbors if they knew who the waddler was. If he only lives a couple of houses down, I would be knocking on his door and having a serious discussion with him.

If you look real close at the pic of pcr2 in the crick trapping mink, he's wearing a rape whistle around his neck. Reckon up there in the deep country a fella has to worry about a reenactment of Deliverance. grin

If you don’t follow through he’ got the OK to do it again and you have no documentation it happed the first time. Get it on record the 1st time so your golden in court if he keeps it up.

The first time he said it did not matter would of sealed the deal for me.

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

I did tell him he was on my property. I think he thought he was on the neighbor's property. The path is right on the edge of the property line and is not close to straight. It starts at my left side neighbors back yard and turns into my property and appears to be mostly on my property. The path was there before I bought the property.

My left side neighbor and I have a weird shaped border. I have a thin piece by the state highway that sticks in front of his on the public right of way. My driveway is on a road that ends at the state highway. I have frontage on both. Then his property jogs behind my front barn, then his property angles into mine before finally making a right angle behind mine. The waddler came in along the back property line.

I called Jeff Tiptop, my local warden and explained the situation. I told him that I did not want to pursue the matter at this time, but wanted it to be on record, that I was harrased on my own property, so that if it happened again he would know that it previously happened. He assured me that if it happened again he would act on it.
