recently got a husqarvana 435 today was the 2nd time used. About half way through I decided to put on a brand new chain as I had lost my file sometime today after I started cutting. The chain wouldn't go so I figured I put too much tension so I backed off tension and it ran for a minute then jumped off the bar. As I took off the chain I noticed it was stuck on the tip of the bar. I finally got the chain free and noticed the bottom of the links were messed up on a few. looked like a manufacture defect. Had no choice but to put the original chain on. Went back to cutting then the chain started jumping off. After a few times I called it quits.

Any ideas of why chains are jumping off? Could it be the bar got messed up from the new chains defects?

once it jumps the drivers get wrecked on the aluminum chain catch that saves your leg. you can fix it with a file and some time. once thrown it will throw easy after that. we see it a lot on the smaller huskys

Two years selling husqvarna I've only seen two bad bars that both broke in the first couple days of use.[Linked Image]

Check the oiler function my bar hole was plugged on my Stihl and burned up the tip.

Thanks that is good to know. What would I file, the tip of the bar or the chain catch? I took the new chain back and exchanged it.

wow what was the cause of the bars breaking?

Was the tension of the chain correct, if too slack it can derail. You should also have a bar grease gun, to grease the roller tip. Make sure the bar is not worn on one side, dress with a flat file. Remove the bar and make sure oiler holes are free of chips. old243

Old243 yeah it was correct.
White sure was. I even bought a husqvarna chain with model listed as double assurance.
Jctunnelrat, sthil will be next purchase. Husqvarna has a chain break system that must be reset everytime. Took me about 30 minutes to figure how to reset it thanks to terrible instruction manual. Resetting isn't bad once you know about it but it still adds a couple minutes to not cutting

Numbers on the bar tells you what you need on most bars.

That should be .325 pitch, .050 drivers, length Is likely 18 inch 72 drivers or 16 inch 66 drivers

Exactly what I have Pat.

Here's a pic of the new chain with the defects and the box it came in.

You had it on upside down! LOL J/K

That info on the bottom line should match the bar if it's marked.

Somebody jumped that chain- then stuck it back in the box and returned it...….you ended up with it.

mink, I took right back to TCS and exchanged it. I am hoping it didn't mess up the bar.

LOL Jerry. Matched up perfectly it was those dang rough edges that caused the whole issue.

What happened was you got a junk returned chain that was burred up from being thrown. What happens is not every drive link gets burred (usually) and you can put it back on. You probably didn't notice the few links sticking up and it derailed on a branch or something small that managed to get under it. If burred badly enough like your picture shows the sprocket can send it off when it gets to that point in the chain. I highly doubt the bar is messed up. What I want to know is what is the problem "setting" a chainbrake? Ive ran a lot of Husqvarnas and all I had to do was push the chainbrake back open. I never ran a 435 so maybe they are different but I doubt it.
