I have came to the conclusion that you guys( jumper) toss random things out of your planes while inrought. Found a lot of golf balls way out in the wilderness. Personally I think that is a good omen from the k9 perspectives. Jon

Was setting wolf traps today in a new spot about 70 miles out of town. Area was an old flat that served as a gravel pit decades ago, long since grown over. Wolves travel thru pretty regular now. I decided on setting at the base of a draw leading into to area and stared at it a bit, looking for the "perfect" spot. The base of one of the trees jumped out at me, a nice sheltered area perfect for a dirthole. I started digging my trap bed and out popped this little plastic dog that was buried about an inch deep....right where I just sank my pounder. Now that is just freaky!!! Not sure if its a good omen or not!?!?! Guess time will tell.... Spot was about 1/4 mile behind a locked gate. No indication of it being any sort of old camp or grave or anything. Just a random tree....like I said, freaky. im not sure... perhaps trash thrown in old gravel pit.... id be worried too... im not supersticious but one time i was driving through a loop in a trailer court.... a big black cat AND I MEAN A BIG BLACK CAT walked out in front of me... i mean i could see the muscles in his back as he strutted across while looking me in the eyes !!!! i mean it was just too easy to back in a driveway and go back around !!

Could be what caught your eye as a great place, also caught someone elses eye as a great place. Not sure of the upland oportunities in that area. Possibly a resting place for a favorite hunting partner.
Original owner probably did this with many positive emotions
I'd call it a Lucky Charm. Expect great things ahead. Way beyound a lucky choice for a set to be placed.
But then again maybe some operator at the old strip just dropped it ??? Doubt it.

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

I suspect if you kept digging down there you'd find the bones of a dog. Probably a little thing to bury on top of the grave. People do all kinds of things in old gravel and sand pits.

Was it under a dogwood tree ? If that's the case, he sure wasn't barking up the wrong tree ..... Mike, that is a neat find. I had the same thought as Dillrod and NPCfed. Isn't it interesting that certain landmarks are the focus for their own unique reasons . Save that lil' setter figurine, Mike, add it to your successful history as a wuff catcher . It is a good find.
