If you go to this thread you can see how to do it with PeatMoss. The only thing I do differently is I add a touch of salt when it starts to freeze out.
Flat Set thread on T-Man

Hope that helps.

If you use peat moss or waxed dirt to cover your traps it should keep your traps from freezing. I use peat moss some early in the season then switch to waxed dirt. Peat moss is a lot cheaper and easier to get.

I use peat moss, its cheap and stays remarkably dry.I put it under my trap and a light coating over it with just enough dirt over that to blend it in to the surrounding area

Old enough to know better, but dumb enough to still try.

I use peat moss this year for the first time and I was amazed how dry it would stay even in hard rain storms. I went to pull my sets after a hard rain and the first trap I tripped off it blew peat up in my face. The second one I checked I just scraped the surface with a stick and the top 1/8 inch was damp and the rest underneath was bone dry. Now that the weather has started freezing I will dig my hole, pound stakes, put a little peat on top of the stakes, bed trap, spray a mist of glycol, cover trap with some more peat, mist glycol, put a little covering of dirt from the area to not let the peat blow away, and again a little mist of glycol. I caught two coyotes on well below freezing nights, Hope this helps.
