Find some tracks In the snow and set your CRs on those tracks. Don't worry about dying painting or boiling them.

I just hang my new snares outside for a few weeks to get the shine off them.

I like a light coat of Formula One on mine or a light dusting of camo spray paint. They are harder for me to see, makes sense to me they'd be harder for coyotes to see as well.

I like Dakota Line's snare dip, but it is not necessary.

Don't wax them.

I found the Dakota line stuff to be dry and chalky feeling almost, similar to paint primer in feel. I didn't care for it on my snares, seemed to not slide as smoothly as I'm accustom to.

I agree you don't have to camo your snares or CR's to catch critters but if you catch one or two extra a week it pays for itself quickly.

I catch on dyed and undyed, but a dyed cable sure helps in hiding them from other people.

Agree 100% I’ve caught a truckload on new snares.

I've found this to be true. Early in the fall when I have all the time in the world and am bored in the garage getting ready for the season I take the time to treat stuff and finesse it a bit.

Then a month or two in and it's cold and I'm tired and things are dirty, I just grab some cable, find tracks and hang them not worrying whether or not it was a snare I built earlier in the year that was dyed or if it was one I made up the night before.

I use Dakota Line as well. Works just fine for me.

Boil them in some baking soda and a little dawn dish soap seems to work good for me. I snare mainly coyotes and it doesn't seem to bother them at all.
