Getting away from the gun talk, NFL controversy, politics overall... what are your weekend plans? I'm taking the GSP and the English Setter out here in a bit to chase some grouse and do some scouting for trapping, then showing up to my club's trapping demo they are putting on where there will be demos on trapping for rats, mink, beaver, otter, coyote, bobcat, wolves, coon and marten. You guys? Weekend plans? Tomorrow I might drive up to 5 or 6K feet and make some coyote sets and do some wolf scouting for early season.

I'd like to say I'm going out hunting upland birds but walking after all this rain would be tough with our gumbo mud . So I'll build more snares and snare supports so I don't have to later when things get busier this season.

Get in touch with some of my landowners, maybe ask a few new ones. Boil and wax some traps. Maybe build some stakes. I wanted to work but I already put in 56 hours this week so they gave the jobs to another guy who was short on hours. Maybe scout for a deer for my son since this is his first year he can hunt.

I’m gonna give my line the once over and maybe try to scare up a few more locations. I’m probably gonna get some tbones ready to go as well. I have a dozen new 550’s to wax and another dozen traps to adjust. That way when it’s time to set I can just set.

I like the plans guys. Grouse hunting today was good. Dogs and I got a mature red-phase ruff. Then spent all day at the IFH trapping demo and watched some really good demos from some super knowledgeable trappers. Came home had a nice ribeye steak and a glass of whiskey. Wolf scouting tomorrow... might throw a couple coyote traps in the ground on the way to the wolf scouting line.
