The only thing I have found that works well for keeping sparrows away is barn cats. I removed all the cats when I bought my farm and had problems with rodents, sparrows and starlings. In the Winter, when there was light snow, many hundreds of starlings would stay overnight in one of my barns, burying most of my stuff stored there in poop. Sparrows nested and roosted all over. The sparrows stole large amounts of chicken feed. Starlings stole dog food.
I had 1 feral half grown cat show up and let it stay and soon noticed a huge difference in the number of birds and rodents in the barns. The 1 cat chased off hundreds of starlings in 1 night. In the areas the cat had access too, pest numbers dropped. I now have 7 semi feral cats that roam my 5 barns and land and some kittens. I almost never see a sparrow, starling or mouse, anywhere the cats have access too.
I originally trapped sparrows and starlings. There are so many, during the migrations, that trapping is like baling the Titanic with a spoon.

Hang a mist net where they go in and out. If they roost at night hang the net then roll it up during the day and drop it at night. They will have to try to go through the net to get out,
