Any opinions on zep wax over regular wax, I am old school as far as dyeing and waxing the old fashioned way, have heard many people talking about fmj and zep wax, not quite convinced, I mainly trap canines, anybody having luck with either?

I've never heard of anyone using Zep wax on traps. Could you elaborate on how people are using it? and why?
is it supposed to be an alternative to the traditional waxing to avoid dipping traps in boiling wax?

People are using it as alternative to regular waxing, I am just not convinced, just looking for others who may have used it or full metal jacket.

I tried zep on floors, it was not a good wax sposed to have 25% solid in it, like a good heavy traffic one, poor wax,
I ended up redoing a 1100$ floor, that sucked.
Years ago I coated a #3 coyote trap in good floor wax, a badger in wy dug it up, and coyote came by, walked by the set, if wax coating gets wet it turns white, probably smells more then
The only metal on my wax mop is corroded pretty bad, looks like wax made it that way

I've never tried it and had never heard of it so I did some Google research. It is a floor polish, not really a wax. If you Google Zep Wax MSDS you will find that it's composition is:

2-(2-ETHOXYETHOXY)-ETHANOL; diethylene glycol monoethyl ether, ethoxydiglycol 111-90-0 1 - 10 TRIBUTOXYETHYL PHOSPHATE; Tris (2-butoxyethyl) phosphate 78-51-3 1 - 5

whereas the MSDS for paraffin says the composition is:

Paraffin waxes and Hydrocarbon waxes.

I'd stick with wax because wax sticks for me.

I've used fmj on my canine traps. I like it. I give the traps a couple of weeks to air out though. I didn't cover my sets with dirt either this year, just grass or bean chaff.

I'm a new trapper, 3rd year, and I've used it since I started. I dip my traps in paint let it dry for a couple of weeks and then dip in FMJ. I've heard people complain about the cost but I dipped close to a hundred traps, twice and some snares and still have some left over. After the season is over I power wash my traps and when it gets warm out I dip them FMJ. This year I was able to trap 57 coyotes, 1 badger and 1 raccoon. So if a person is getting refusal's I don't think it would be from the FMJ but again I'm new to this so take it for what it's worth.

I know this is an old topic but witch of the 4 step zep system are people using? I would think it would be the #2 seal. Or the #3 polish but not sure.

I tried zep on tile floors, it's a real low quality floor wax, Spartan waxes are good waxes,

Used a ptooduct called speed wax back in early 80’s, it was a lot like fmj. It worked really well.

I started using FMJ about 5 years ago and haven't had any problems with digging. I had head noticed the first time I used it that it looked and smelled like floor bond enhancer. I heard Zep high traffic floor polish was the same as fmj and looked up the MSDS for both FMJ and the floor polish and they were identical. I used the Zep stuff for the past 2 years and haven't had any problems. My storage box always smells like even a few months later. I personally don't think it's a smell that causes coyotes to dig.

Does using the floor wax change color of traps, or does it just put a clear coating on them?
