You need to open them up .Gut barrels from locker get ate.pig chunks seem to work . They wonxt fight pig skin for their vittles long before they go find something fresher and easier

I have seen a few big wild hogs killed by hunters around here and they dump them off in the back of fields and such. I have not seen one eaten or torn into by anything but buzzards once they are pretty much melted. I know i set some traps around one that was dropped off on a pond dam in the back of a field last year. I had been catching coyotes all around that area. Never caught anything but buzzards and possums and only after it had been there a long time. Maybe the skin is too tough to get into until it rots a good bit or something. However i took a head from a baby wild hog and tossed it down a dirthole and caught a couple coyotes and a bobcat on that set.

Have caught small feral pigs in footholds set for coyotes. Next mornings check had a pig foot left and small intestines stretched down logging road. Coyote tracks everywhere. Caught 2 coyotes same trap next few nights. They heard the squealing and got an easy meal.
Down here everytime you see tracks of a sow with little pigs there are coyote tracks there too...following them around. Bobcats too. These predators down here know what a pig is.

The worse the weather the better, I don't set until it's been hit on for a while and they have trails showing then snare the narrow spots like a creek bottom, thicker draw or tall grass work the best for me.
