I have skinned a few coyotes but I have 10 to do and I always have trouble with skinning out the front legs/shoulders on the belly side.I almost anyways end up cutting lots of meat off around this area.Is there some kind of trick around this area?pictures would be great.

north, when you get peeled down to the top of the leg, get it started and take a rather stout round peg and work it trough the leg area until you hit daylight in the brisket. I don't have a pic though...

I don't want to spend more than 5-10 munites skinning

You can use a rebar trap stake or small crow bar, to pull the legs.

warm is best.

number one you are not getting the pelt down far enough on the shoulder neck area, on old coyotes thistakes some force, next you need to look at the area on a unskinned one, you will see where you need to put the scredriver, prybar , trapping stake wahtever in to plunge out the srea around the shoulders, there is nothing to it once ya get the hang of it, takes only a minute to do.

I see several suggestions of prying devises and what has worked real good for me is a hammer. I just use my Estwing framing hammer but I would think a ball-peen(spelling?)would work very well using the round end. None of that pulling and pushing; just strike between the front legs and the neck on the belly side until you can push something through like a small length of broom handle or your sharpening steel. THen pull on that and pull the legs on out. I have never seen one tear from using the hammer either.

I cut the legs off at the elbow like Tex said before I start. Then do it the same as I do raccoons...

I'm just learning this stuff with the videos and had the settings wrong on the camera so the file was too big to put it all on one video so even though its only 3.5min. of footage I had to put it into two short clips. I've corrected the problem now with the camera. Hope you enjoy...

part two...

I just noticed when the video comes up you can click "full screen" then maximize the window. It makes it alot bigger and easier to see just what I'm doing.
