My wife and I will be moving to owensboro Kentucky this summer for my job in rockport Indiana. I’ll be looking for some new hunting and trapping ground, any locals on here from that neck of the woods? I usually hunt and trap nearly all public ground. I’m not asking for anyone to give away their sweet spot, just looking for a few places to spend a little time after work and on weekends. Thanks for any suggestions.

Sloughs WMA is in Henderson, not to far from Owensboro. Lots of public land up around the Ohio River. KY Dept of FW website has a very complete guide to public lands in KY.

Go to fw.ky.gov and you can look up the public wildlife management areas all over Ky. The printed hunting guide has a general location map that shows where in the state each one is, too, if you can manage to get one. It seems they have a problem getting them printed and distributed before the season. Last year the hunting trapping season was about over and they were still as scarce as marten in Missouri.

Kyt, ain't that the truth about the hunting guides. At least they do post it as a PDF on the website

We used to bowhunt every year at Yellow Bank WMA in Breckinridge county. Great hunting, it was a bow only area then. I think it still is.
