I'd trust a straight razor... in the right hands, anyway. Don't need Sweeney Todd comin' about my goodies

That's funny. My father used to say his blade looked like it was used for cutting power cables after my mother got done with it.

Really makes a difference on how long they last

That's interesting. I don't understand the science behind it but will give that a go, thanks.

You can sharpen blade on that safety razor by dropping it in a wide mouth quart jar with some water in it. Tilt the jar and get the blade on the side. Put your finger on the blade in the center and run it back and forth about 15 times. Flip the blade and do it again. I used the same blade for over a year and I think it was sharper at the end than the start. My wife got tired of the soap cup, brush, and peanut butter jar and threw it all out. I thought she didn't want me to shave anymore.

2 months ago I broke down and bought a Harrys at Wal Mart.Been decades since I used a razor like that because they were not worth the money.Well I shave my head and face with it and am well pleased. They last a good bit also and they don't get clogged.

I have also not shaved in 21 years.

if you believe in the dollar a shave thing figure there is a few days a year a person just isn't going to shave so 360 dollars a year x21 = 7,560.00 dollars saved and spent on guns and not washed down the sink.

I do. It's pewter...probably dates to the twenties or thirties. All of my blades are vintage with the oldest going to the mid eighteen hundreds. I have some German steel and one of my blades has my hometown stamped on the blade. A small town way up here in northern Maine. I believe merchants ordered them as a means of advertising.

An old hog skin strop that bears my last name and a reindeer strop I use all the time. I've been wearing a beard for about a year now so I only break out the razor once a week or so to clean up my neck. I use Ivory soap as shaving cream as of late. Can't find anything in town other than the canned stuff and I don't much care for it.

I use Harrys razors. No complaints and they last quite awhile.

Here's what I use:
Blades
Shaver
Stand
Brush
Shaving Cream

My wife and daughter each have a different model Merkur. I like the 2 piece a lot better than the three piece shavers.
