Well I think I got a deal. Got a farmer friend that ran this rig for just a couple a years i dont think it has 200 hours on it if that. They bought a side by side and parked the cat in 2009 I offerd him 500 as is and they said ok. About all they ever did was ride around and ck crops. The only issue they had was the nephew smoked the belt when he got stuck.. Anybody got any info on this rig Thanks J

Arctic cat is pretty brutal. But, for $500 you did good since it’s pretty much brand new.

All the engines were Suzuki. They did make some on their own.

Yep..I was looking at Arctic Cat's the other day..It seems like they haven't evolved to the level of other manufactures in the industry..for the kind of money they want out of them..The only reason I saw them is that this dealer carry's them along with John Deere products that I was interested in at the time..To each their own though..
I can catch them here...I can catch them ANYWHERE

I think you did well. I have 2 500's bought new in 03 in my bear camp both have been indestructible and trouble free. A good friend has a 400 and a 650, hard ridden and trouble free as well. The four mentioned above are all shaft driven, I didn't know Cat made models that size with belt drive?

Picked up the 4 wheeler yesterday didn't take to much to get it going I drained the old gas , clean out the carb and put a new battery in . The only trouble my friend ever had with it was it would overheat the belt and shred it. He had had it to a local 4 wheeler shop a few times replacing belts and clutches. I think I found the problem and cured it I hope. There's a air intake and exhaust tube to the belt housing to keep everything cool. The exhaust tube/box above the back axle was completely packed full of old belt material and fuzz. I bet i dug out 4 or 5 cups full of crud between the shop vac, air compressor and a chunk of bailing wire I finally got it cleaned out plus I took both clutches apart and clean them up. Apparently all the shop was doing was replacing parts and not trying to figure out the cause. They have been out of buisiness a while now I drove it around a little today so far so good. Dash shows that it has 294 hours and 3000 mile J

All the engines were Suzuki. They did make some on their own. correct so its just a matter of time before the flywheel magnets trash your stator and you have to throw $500 at it to fix it...…. you got a great deal on it so fix it up, clean it up, and sell it or trade it in for something else other than an artic cat...…..
