There are several dates in the mid 1980s when Montgomery was reported to have ceased manufacture of traps. The latest date that I am aware of is a letter that I posess dated Jan 21 1988 which stated that they at that time were INTRODUCING a new #1 coilspring but were not going to be building a 6 inch(160 size) bodygrip at that time. Monty was thus certainly still producing traps in very early 1988 but all additional evidence that I have seen suggests that they did close sometime later that year. I do not know if the 110 size bodygrip was still being produced that year. The latest catalog date that I have for a 4 1/2 inch(their number 500) bodygrip offered for sale was in early 1985, but they were NOT produced later than 1988, based on the evidence I am aware of.

I see F&T sells new Montgomery traps, but they are coil spring traps. It appears Oneida Victor owns them now. I didn't know Montgomery 110 BG's quit being made that long ago. I bought some from a guy on the Trap Shed (I will receive them Saturday). He says they've never been used. Now this ought to be interesting.

He said they come with the spring brackets and stakes. He said the dog has 3 settings. He is throwing in a few extra of the support stakes. Although I told him him I'd probably see if the bracket allows me to insert a stronger and longer stake (not for trap securement but for trap stabilization). He thinks that'd work. I bought 11. I bought them to use, thinking they'd be a good trap. We'll see how they look & function. I didn't realize they are old when I bought them. I was buying some other stuff, & he asked if I wanted to buy these.
