It sounds like GN has a deal worked out with Tubari for dressing g the goods at GN prices. Not sure how fast the turn around will be. You have other options for tanning. Moyle in Idaho being one of those. www.moytown.com. Their turn around time has been fairly fast recently. If you have goods at GN, you should have the option of where they are sent for dressing. You should also have the option of getting the raw goods back. I imagine they are swamped with calls and emails right now. Lots of unhappy people. Send them an email with all the details and give them a few days to respond. It will take awhile for them to sort out this mess. Look on the bright side - it sounds like every one will get their pelts back. It could be worse - tannery (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) down without notice and everything is gone. Poof!! Sounds like GN is at least trying to make things right. Good Luck to everyone with goods there.

Thanx you Beaver trappers! Wissmiss, I remember reading one of your posts about great northern fur a year or two ago. Well I decided to send them some bobcats. The turnaround time was only 90 days or less. The only problem I had with them is they lost my paperwork that was in the box, so they were unable to call me. After 3 weeks of not hearing from them I called to make sure they revived them, they did and apologized for the mishap. Anyway I was extremely happy with the bobcats. Thanx wissmiss FYI: if anyone is worried about getting your pelts back, put your initials in the leather with a needle. I sure hope they get it together...

I received my 'other then beaver fur" that was finished on Friday. The quality was like Moyles. Supposed to get my unfinished beaver soon after.

I don't know this from the horse's mouth, but since I work at a Job Center, I know that right now with the unemployment rate at an all-time low, we have DOZENS of businesses in every one of the 72 WI counties shutting down simply because they cannot find people who need jobs, or those who are unemployed, are unreliable and not good workers. A business like a tannery must need hardworking, reliable production workers who show up every day for their shifts and work hard. That description doesn't fit the next generation of high schoolers who want a $30/hour job right out of high school. I know Dave said they were so far behind because it was hard to find good workers, and even the wonderful receptionist Michelle had to leave the front desk to go help out some days, which is why phone calls or emails were missed.
It's easy to jump on a business, especially when they have your fur still, but Dave is as good as they come so he will make it right. It's sad to see such an amazing tannery having to close doors simply because people don't want to work these days!

I talked to David at the FTA in VA last week. He was manning the Tubari LTD. booth and display of tanned fur. Very nice display and I was glad to see it there. Tubari is offering sheared hand plucked beaver and their sample was nothing short of phenomenal.
From our discussion, it is my understanding that GNF is now a part of Tubari LTD even though neither brand has updated their websites to reflect this. Dave was certainly representing Tubari LTD at the show.
I, too, have fur that I sent to GNF last year that I have not gotten back yet. Dave apologized for the delay and assured me that they were working through the backlog and would get it tanned and get it back to me.

David was at the FTA in VA and at the NTA manning the Tubari LTD display. I am not sure what other shows he has scheduled but I know he is planning to come to NC in September under the Tubari LTD banner.
I spoke to him this weekend about the partially completed order that I have at GNF. Everything was done except the beaver and will be shipped this week. The beaver is at Tubari being processed and will be shipped when completed.

It is official. Great Northern is shutting down. Here is a link to the announcement on their web site. https://gnfur.comIt is too bad they are closing. They did very good work in the beginning. We could have used another good tannery. Now Moyles and Tubari and other tanneries will get more business. I feel sorry for the folks that have had goods sitting there for a year. I hope Tubari puts a rush on those orders and gets them done right away. For those of you with pelts there, keep us posted as to how this plays out. Thank you for posting the link. Does anyone know what those circumstances are? I wonder if they got into some regulation trouble or some silly government technicality.
