I lost my dog Abbie this past Sunday. Had her for 14 years and she made every step I did when I was outside. She got bit by a rattlesnake at about 10 months old and survived. We haven't had any skunks or coons around the place for 13 years. She just wouldn't leave a skunk alone and there is no telling how much peroxide I used on her. She went every where with me setting traps and knew where all of them were. She did get caught a couple of times. This is a picture of her last fall with her friend Brady the deer. She came down sick about 10 days ago and vet said stomach cancer. It sure didn't take her long to go. The deer has been coming up in the morning and late afternoon looking for her. Gonna miss her for a long time.
Sit on your horse on top of a ridge, look out across the country and tell me there is no God.

Cedar it's a big hole in one's heart when a dog dies that we spend time with on a daily basis, I can honestly say it helped me when I got another dog but that's just me . I hope and pray there's a special place for good dogs after they leave the earth so to speak.

My condolences Cedar. Tough losing a good dog. Been there to many time and every time I swear it will be the last but am doing it yet again with a new pup, but no matter what I still miss each and everyone of them that has shared my life, from those that were only there for a short time to my old hound that was with me almost 20 years, you just cant put a price tag on the memories they have provided

I am glad to see I am not the only one that has a soft spot for animal companions.
I believe my dogs and horses are the reason I survived and recovered from a stroke. I went for my walk one morning when she was about 3 years old and forgot to take a two way radio with me. Sure enough I fell and could not get up. She stayed with me and would lick my face and hand until I was found. I will never forget that.
I was looking ahead and saw that she was slowing down so I got a weanling pup last November. He is Catahoula/Walker and is working out good so far but is very high energy.
Sit on your horse on top of a ridge, look out across the country and tell me there is no God.
