I have an older Old Town canoe made from Royalex that has some gouges in the bottom that had been repaired many years ago and now the patches are crumbling out. Has anyone repaired these, and if so what did you use?

Do a search for a royalex repair kit and you will find the same thing that old town is selling, just cheaper.

In a pinch, high-temp silicone from the auto repair dept works great. I use it on waders. It stays flexible.

Life ain't supposed to be easy.

The damage wasn't severe, it was just cut through the outer layer. I bought it used from an outfitter about 15 years ago. The last few years the patches have been wearing and I decided to fix it this year.
