Who " goes around claiming they're exceptional" and "thumps their chest over it?"

Is that what liberals think Americans who take pride in their Country do?

Eh...wot?

If America is not exceptional, why do so many people want to come here. We take in more immigrants than any other country in the entire world. Millions more would come if they could. No disrespect towards you and your family, but with a whole world to move to, why did your wife choose to leave Japan and come here, if America is not exceptional?

My wife came here because her husband lived in the US. If she'd married a Japanese man, she would have been content to stay in her home country.

Please note that America and Americans are two different things. I agree, Keith, that we have an exceptional country. But Americans aren't special just because we're born here. It's arrogance to say otherwise.

To answer your question; we have the most powerful military on the planet. We have by far the biggest economy, producing about 1/4 the global GDP. We are the most technologically powerful nation. Our popular culture is emulated the world over.

Those are just a few of the things we are best at and there are many more. But that’s really not what American Exceptionalism is about. It is about the principles this nation was founded on and the fact that prior to our founding most of the people in the world lived under the rule of tyrannical dictators and despots with very limited freedoms. Many still do.

The personal freedoms afforded us by our Constitution is what makes America exceptional.

I agree, we are a nation in decline. To me it is obvious that decline is caused by the poison being spread throughout our culture by liberals, socialists and communists that hate everything good America stands for.[/quote]

What would the NATO nations be if the good 'ol US of A did not pony up all the money they do to support NATO ? Why does the USA pay ALL its far share and a thriving Germany cannot ? Why does the USA have to carry all the NATO nations ? Trump did a great thing when he told them to pony up their share. On Fox the other night it said that the USA has military in 158 of the total 192 countries in the world. Is anybody reimbursing our babysitting fully ? I would think that if we only kept our main allies that other democracies would come up some some cash real quick to keep us in their country. No wonder why we are so far in debt. Baby sitting.....

They should not beable to breed in the first place. Just my opinion though and probably anybody else 's opinion who is tired for paying for losers that breed. I can understand if the breadwinner gets killed, loses a good job, gets in a major car wreck etc. But to go out not have a decent job, housing etc and start making babies is plain and simple wrong.

I agree. Yet a man who published information about how our government is spying on us has been arrested. He didn't steal the information only just published it. The guy that did steal it has served a prison sentence for the theft but is back in jail.

The American public has not so much as uttered a peep about their right to be free of unreasonable search, their right to privacy being infringed.

Not only are gun owners getting on the "reasonable" gun control band wagon non owners want to claim self defense should no longer be recognized as a right.

Property ownership is now just the right to ask permission of the local government for any use.

People who will not support themselves are being given money earned by people who do. In many cases without the consent of the earner.

Free markets are not so free anymore.

People have to get permission to start a business. Kids have been fined for selling lemonade.

Drug addicts are being given lengthy prison sentences while thieves are being released.

States that no longer allow commercial coyote trapping are using tax dollars to hire people to control them.

Schools and hospitals get built in Afghanistan and Iraq but U.S. schools can't even get all the maintenance they need.

And American voters keep voting FOR this stuff. There is no outrage as our freedoms are whittled away. Sure is a lot of hand wringing and tears though as our exceptionalism keeps on going down the road to being common.

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

I used to think that if I was ever on trial for something I'd want an "out of the box" lawyer such as yourself but after that statement I'd surely hang. lol

America is just geography without the people.

I'm certain there was a period, after initial protest over taxation from the British, where everyone seemed to be loyal subjects. Quiet is sometimes mistaken as Quit, but they are not the same.

I agree with everything Danny except maybe your last sentence. As I said above, our federal government has grown away from what the Founders envisioned. It has been convoluted and corrupted by politicians more interested in power and personal gain than protecting the freedoms all Americans should be able to enjoy.

A huge part of the problem is the fact that liberals have taken over education and news media and have been using those extremely powerful tools to brainwash the ignorant masses. This has allowed them to become a powerful force in American politics. And we all know where liberals stand on American Exceptionalism and what they think of personal freedoms, especially gun ownership.

As for your last sentence, I know your lumping conservatives in there and I know you're angry about Trump's Bumpstock Ban, as are most of us, but I still consider my vote for the Republican candidate the best I could do. Until there is a viable candidate that supports a Constitutional government...
