I know the 6.4 has 350 hp vs 390 with the 6.7 I am trying to pick between the 2 . one is 2008 with the 6.4 has 118 k for $15k vs the 2013 6.7 with 166k for $ 20k both f-350, wife like the 15 k over 20 k , lol

I'm not a fan of the 6.4L. They get terrible mileage. I've seen too many of them with compression troubles. If I was given one, I'd delete the EGR and DPF. The mileage would improve a bit and it should be more reliable.
I do like the 6.7L Powerstroke. They've been pretty reliable.

The early 6.4's had quite a few problems. There is a you tube channel where the guy works on nothing but Ford Powerstrokes if you want more info on them, you could watch a few of his videos. If I remember correctly, the turbos were junk because of poor design and ceramic bearings also, they had a problem with heads cracking among other issues.

Here is the guy's channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQz2vFEc1m-WGKf6g-pz9DA

If this is going to be a work truck, go for a 7.3 or T444E (same as 7.3 but electronic ) BUT, if this is not for a "work" truck, stay away from a diesel. They are more expensive to repair than a gasser. For an example. Spark plugs on a gasser, $50 or less for an 8 pack. Injectors for a T444E $300 each!
BUT, yes I said but again. A 7.3 or T444E will last a long time. It really depends on what you are using it for and how often.

Had one.

If you get one, may as well just spend the money and have all that emissions BS tore out, replaced, and deleted and all that as that’s where 99% of the problems are.

I was a diesel tech at a ford dealership for a little bit. I probably replaced 5 6.4l engines while I was there for various reasons, plus several turbos. I'd stay away from them. They were as bad as the 6.0ls. The 6.7l came out when I left, so I can't speak much about them. The 7.3s were the best.

I have 2 7.3l a 6.4l and a 6.7l. The 7.3s were great in their time, the 6.4 is good but I had to put 7000 into the engine to make it good, and the 6.7 puts them to shame! Get the 6.7l
