Fold them once fur out then roll.Put in a plastic bag, squeeze out the air and tie shut.Write the date on the bag.Spring beaver will freezer burn quicker than fall beaver. Don't pile a bunch in at the same time piled up on top of one another.Spread them out to freeze .

I do it the same way Boco described. Dont add another layer on for at least 48 hours.

I roll and freeze beavers that are clean skinned.I have done many up several months after freezing with 0 issues. You have more of a chance of freezerburn when freezing them flat if keeping long term.Rolled clean skinned pelts with be thawed enough after 4 hrs at room temp to unroll and open up.Half an hour after that-good to board. Cant say for those that leave 10 lbs of meat on the hide.Probably be like thawing out a carcass.

I've done hundreds if not thousands the way boco describes but unfleshed with no issues. They do take awhile to freeze thus the no layering rule for 48 hours. They also take a bit to thaw but not really, they are ready to go in 24 hours.

Just leave them folded in half, fur out. I've kept many beaver from one season to the next frozen this way with no issues. Plastic can build up condensation which is a bad thing. Rolling pelts causes the center to take a very long time to freeze, and a very long time to thaw. I fold them in 1/2 like Dave, sometimes 1/4 if feel like it. Freeze them then bag them in ice bags. They keep just fine one season to the next. I freeze all spring beavers and sell in the fall. If they are folded in 1/2 you don't even need to thaw them to sell to most country buyers, including Groenwald.

Yes, I never like plastic much for freezing an usally wrap in nothing, an try freeze as fast as possible, I had big roll freezer paper but gone, bought yrs back, by now the price is probly quadruple, maybe just put some newspaper tape around it ? Air gets right though it, some edges of meat are exposed air

The plastic keeps it from freezer burning, squeeze all the air out and tie the bag.

Fold and roll them up. As long as no flesh Is showing your good to go. Never flesh a beaver before freezing. The problem with placing a skin In a bag before It's frozen Is you stand the chance of that hide un rolling and exposing some flesh. If your going to bag them tie them up first.
I fold both edges toward the middle then roll them up from both ends to the middle. This pretty much ensures you that no flesh will be exposed. This also gives you more layers of hide for protection from freezer burn. The nose and the edges will be the first to burn. As to bagging them I would get some real bags to use not those junk Wal-Mart bags.

Rough skinning Is the way to go. Couldn't you wait four days for that comment?
