Too many dimwits breeding unsound temperaments into dogs. They've all but destroyed many breeds.I've seen Boston Terriers that are people aggressive, that shouldn't be.There are so few sound Pitt Bulls out there that it isn't worth the risk.Of course Pitts seem to be a draw for low IQ individuals that wouldn't know an unsound temperament if it hit them upside the head.

Or Television producers that want the Drama ratings! ie: pit bulls & parolees show. I wouldnt watch that if I was dead bored.

Agree 330.

My neighbor used to think his Pitt Bulls were my problem, until I told him "if they come in my yard I'm going to do the best I can to kill them".He called the police. The police agreed with me but said to address it at the time and don't say any more to the owner.

Yes cndgmn my lawyer said there is a law in Iowa protecting the home owner, and/or livestock owner from stray dogs, but he also said the three “S’s” apply, shoot, shovel, and shut up.

I now have pats and have yet to see them go bad, but expect if they were kept solely as a pet or left to their own doings it would happen. I will add all cattle dogs to the list of bad pets. I have seen to many of them run free to chase the neighbors cattle at will and bite the legs of everyone that they see. If folks want a pet, get a pet breed. If they want a working dog, by all means get a working dog but use and handle it responsibly. That is my 2 cents.

I think that's the crux of the problem for bull breeds , Andrew. Their work is a very narrow niche that very few bull owners do. Simple exercise just won't cut it, they need to be able to sink their considerable jaws into something that fights back. The two guys I know that have bulldogs as catch dogs usually are catching pigs two or three times a week. But , that being said, we still never fully trust them . Certainly not after seeing what they can do to a 300 lb po'ed boar. Can only imagine the terrible damage they'd do to a child.

But as said , my buddies do a great job of keeping them busy and contained.

I'm boxed in pretty good and my neighbors are too close to keep it quiet.I'm hesitant to even discharge a weapon.I do have several heavy iron bars placed in strategic locations, they will not make it home on all fours. His dogs are aggressive with people and will attack.Looking at moving soon for my family's sake.

Yes sir. A fenced/chained "pet" Pitt ( or any bull breed) is a time bomb. They've got to be worked .

A pit bull is bred to kill, end of story.

i agree 100 percent, and if not worked and allowed to kill what they should-they will go for what they shouldn't.

even a beagle will cause trouble if its not treated and run as should be.

What needs to happen, is that owners of dogs that attack people or domestic animals, that belong to other people, without good cause, are held legally and civilly responsible for the damages. If people faced serious repercussions for their dog's behavior, most dangerous dogs would disappear.

Why is it that people are more responsible for their pets than they are their children?

Guns like pits are dangerous when trusted in the wrong hands. Maybe we should outlaw them both...... whistle

All kidding aside. Just know what you have if you are going to raise a pit and handle them in such way. Much like the folks Aaron mentioned.

Was told by the head (20 year) investigator of the Humane Society that they (nor to most real pit breeders) consider Pits a dog at all. They are killing machines and NEVER trust one...ever.

He specifically said never be hesitate to shoot one. Says a lot coming from that person.

This garbage about "it's all how you train it" is just that...GARBAGE. Can we train sharks to eat only carrots?
