Just got done unloading 78 females and 197 males at the hatchery. We'll be fertilizing eggs in the next couple of weeks. One of my favorite times of year.
We'll be doing about 60 million or so walleye eggs in the next few weeks as well. Most will be stocked into Kansas waters as fry and fingerlings, with about 25,000 or so being raised to an 8 to 10 inch fish to be stocked as intermediates.
We just brought in about 130,000 channel catfish from our ponds to grow out to an 8 to 10 inch fish in raceways for stocking into Kansas waters.
We'll also be raising about 25 to 30 million hybrid striped bass and striped bass.
Last but not least a few million koi will be raised for forage.
I love my job, and can't believe I actually get paid to do it. It keeps my mind active and on the positive.

Hmmmm. Throwing around some pretty big numbers there, sounds a bit fishy to me.

They are already catching Big Blues on the North end of Milford, but I’m sure the if the lake keeps rising it might put a little damper on it.

With as many exposed edges as I am seeing the pike will be hard at it very soon.

How big of a tank or pond do you need for those 60 million walleye fry and also the 25,000 10”s?

Let some of those sauger loose in the Arkansas River. Maybe some of them will make their way south. Haven't had a good sauger "season" fishin at the Toadsuck Dam in quite a few years.

Awesome facility. You guys do a great job down there. I always buy my ks. Annual fishing permit. You guys have managed your fisheries the right way. Mn. Might have spilled more eggs than you guys harvest, but if I had the choice of where to cast my jigs, I would be doing it in ks. and I would be catching better size and quantity of fish most days. JMO of course, but I have fished both states. Your wipers are a lot of fun too. Thanks for all your hard work.
