I dropped off fur, but I didn’t go to the auction. They haven’t posted anything on the website yet.

I was there for the auction and sold some fur. The grade on coyotes was rough but the prices were reasonable in my opinion. For those who are unfamiliar with WV coyotes they are about as ugly and hairy as they get. That said, I averaged $20.70 on my coyotes, $12.37 on beaver, $5.51 on coon. I only had a few fox on the sale but my gray XL 1&2 was $20 and my red XL 1&2 was $17.50. I work hard at by-product sales so when all was said and done I feel like I had a good return on my catch. As is usual, there was a lot of fur that should never have been brought to market put on the sale. I had culled 20% of my coyotes.

Thanks for the report, John. I don’t do Facebook either so I didn’t see the post. Hopefully they will update the website soon. I only took 2 coyotes. I didn’t start trapping until late so I only sold the 2 I caught early. I had some 3x coon and quite a few 2x I’m hoping did well. I was there early on Friday so there wasn’t much Fur there yet when I left. I think my number was 31.

Sorry guys, I heard wrong. Got my totals ,it was grays that was high of 20, instead of coons. I had 4- xxxl coon. 8.25. 13- xxl coon 5.50. My red was cherry at 35.00, but I-lls was 17.50.XL bobcat was 60.00. Like houben said our coyotes ain’t pretty, 4-llls and 4-lVs at 10.50 and 1.00.Large otter brought 35.00. I think the heavy coons was around 13or so.

I was at the sale. I will say it was the best run auction I have ever been to. Super friendly ,helpful, and organized. I will definitely be there next year. As for the prices I thought the trappers made out really good. You can thank me and my partner for raising them Gray fox prices up a little. wink

Please refresh your browser - the 2019 prices are online and I think you're seeing what's in your 'temporary internet files'.

Yep, had to refresh my browser to see them.

Janet, was there some western coyotes in the sale, or is that high for WV dogs? Was kinda surprised to see that for Eastern yotes if it was.

Prices look pretty good to me. Kinda wishing I would have sold the rest of my fur now. I kept all of my rats.

No western coyotes at the sale. The ones that went for top dollar were silver coyotes -- an unusual color - which sold for $92.50 each. There were only a couple of them and we had a least 2 buyers who were interested in them for tanning, thus pushing the price up. The Select coyotes sold for $65, the Heavy coyotes sold for $62.50, the Eastern L & XL 1 & 2 sold for $45, Blonde coyotes sold for $47.50, Black coyotes sold for $67.50, while the Red Coyotes sold for $25. My guess is several of these more expensive coyotes were purchased for tanning purposes instead of the actual 'fur trade,' but that's just my opinion.

That sounds pretty good to me, Janet. The L/XL I & II sold for more than I was expecting. I’m pretty satisfied with that for mine.
